About the Company

Teatro Meron is a bold and visionary theater collective founded in honor of Dr. Ricardo Abad, a trailblazing artist-scholar whose legacy redefined theater as a force for cultural awakening and social transformation. Inspired by his passion and pedagogy, Teatro Meron continues his mission: to harness the stage as a space for reflection, resistance, and renewal.
At its core, Teatro Meron is dedicated to reviving and reimagining classic works—in both English and Filipino—not merely as heritage texts, but as living conversations with our time. Whether staging Greek tragedy or Filipino literary masterpieces, the group infuses each production with urgency, relevance, and depth, bridging eras and audiences.
More than a theater company, Teatro Meron is a movement for nation-building through art. It believes that theater should not only entertain, but educate minds, shape values, and stir collective conscience. Its productions are not passive spectacles—they are acts of engagement: with history, with identity, with truth.
Guided by the conviction that stories shape societies, Teatro Meron creates a stage where critical thought meets creativity, and where the act of performance becomes a catalyst for dialogue, empathy, and change.
In a fractured world, Teatro Meron dares to ask difficult questions, to offer daring answers, and to remind us all that in the face of silence or apathy, there is always theater—and meron tayong magagawa.
